Smith & Wesson Model 57 Nickel 41 Rem Mag 1978

This striking N frame Smith & Wesson is the fabled model 57 also known as The .41 Magnum Target and is chambered for six charges of 41 Rem Mag. It was made in 1978 (SN N431048) and features the scarce 8-3/8Ē barrel with rib, shrouded ejector rod and ramped red insert front sight, wide hammer spur and trigger, factory nickel finish (ďNĒ on frame and cylinder), checkered Goncalo Alves oversized grips with silver medallions and has the pinned barrel and counterbored chambers that were eliminated later in the -1 variant (1982). Itís in excellent condition retaining 99% nickel while the bore is perfect as are the grips. The rear sight has been replaced (we donít have it) with a robust PMA scope mount which holds an O.E.S. Micro Dot sight in like new condition. This is a real S&W, made by artisans whose skill imparts so much value as evidenced by this vintage wheelgun being valued for about twice that of todayís production. No MIM parts, just fastidious skilled work in which pride could be taken by those who did it. Itís a testament to what American industry was capable of producing before brain-dead professors produced brain-dead accountants and called them managers.
