Smith & Wesson Model 36-6 Target 38 Spl 3” Lik New

This is one of the scarce Model 36-6 Target revolvers made in 1989 with only about 615 being made. It features a 3” fully lugged ribbed barrel with fast-draw ramped front sight (Baughman), fully adjustable rear sight, five shot cylinder, matte finish, wide smooth trigger, round butt and exotic wood boot grips with gold medallions. A serial number of BEA8438 puts it right on the money and though both Fjestad and Supica & Nahas note that M36 3” versions came with square butts, they’re obviously wrong. It retains 99% finish with some slight edge thinning on the leading edge of the barrel lug, a couple of small scratches on the front sight and a very thin cylinder line while the bore is a perfect mirror with strong, sharp rifling and the grips are completely sound with only one light handling mark. Function is perfect with lock-up tight as a bank vault (more like a Colt than a Smith). All indications are that it has been fired very little. A very nice example of a scarce S&W that defies the description in the books. If you have questions please email us at This will be listed for auction on Gun Broker the evening of October 14th.
