Iver Johnson Eclipse 22 Single Shot Derringer

Manufactured from 1870 to 1887 by Iver Johnson and their predecessors; Iver Bye and Company (although claiming to manufacture it, James Brown and Company were just distributors). Made without sights on its 2-1/2 barrel that is round for the front half then transitions to a radiused top and flat sides over the frame and is marked "ECLIPSE" on the left side with un-checkered hammer and spur trigger while the bird's head grip sports smooth walnut panels. Held at battery by a spring detent, opening is achieved by pulling the hammer back and swinging the breech to the right. This example retains about 75% original nickel plate while the bore has only about 5% pitting and grades at Antique Excellent and the grips are sound with a dent line on the left panel but otherwise relatively free of handling marks. The action works as it should except for a missing or broken trigger spring (an easy fix if desired). A scarce little derringer that could hide in your vest pocket until you have him say I dont think so to that straight flush on the other side of the table.
