Smith & Wesson 1-1/2 Old Model First Issue 32 RF

This S&W 1-1/2 Old Model 1st Issue revolver in 32 RF was produced sometime between 1865 and 1868 which was a tumultuous time in the country and a lot of these pistols went west with Civil War veterans seeking their fortunes. It features a 3.5 octagon barrel with round blade front sight, 32 RF caliber, bottom opening (tip-up) action, spur trigger and square butt. The serial number 6447 appears on the butt and inside the right grip panel and J4 is stamped on the heel under the left grip panel and appears again on the barrel (the cylinder is not numbered). It is a nice mixed gray and brown patina while the bore grades at Antique Excellent with only a little pitting and strong, sharp rifling and the grips are completely sound with scattered light handling marks. The action works as it should and frame lock-up is only a little loose. A nice old fella with a century and a half under his belt and plenty of stories to tell.
