Marlin 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine 44-40 Made 1905

This Marlin 1894 carbine was made in 1905 (SN 322263) and features a 20 barrel with original post front sight and adjustable Marbles buckhorn rear sight, saddle ring and walnut stocks with 8-1/8 forend and contoured steel butt plate. Metal finish is a mix of patinas with vestiges of a dark gray finish that may be an ancient reblue or plating of some kind. The barrel markings are present while the top of the receiver is not marked and the upper tang has only faint model markings left. The bore is about 50% scattered light to moderate pitting with good, fairly sharp rifling and the stocks are sound with scattered light to heavy marks and a chip at the upper right tang. The right side of the receiver has evidence of some light cleaning that happened long ago. A well-worn old cowboy that has been around for nearly 115 years and has a story or two to tell.
