Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless US Marked 32 ACP

This outstanding pistol is one of J.M. Browning’s best designs and was made by Colt at a level of quality that can’t be matched by our academia addled manufactures of today. Back in the day it was a favorite of police and the more accomplished criminals such as Al Capone, Bonnie Parker, Clyde Barrow, John Dillinger and Willie Sutton. This US marked version was carried in holsters by many military officers while many others had their tailors leather line a back pocket to facilitate concealed carry (since it has a heel magazine release it can be sat on without popping out the magazine). It was made in the very beginning of 1944 (SN 570042) and features a 3-3/4” barrel, Parkerized finish, thumb safety/slide lock, grip and magazine safeties, seven round magazine and checkered walnut grips with silver medallions. It is in extraordinary condition retaining 98% original finish with slight thinning on the leading edges while the bore is perfect and the grips are nearly so with a small area of flatted points on the left panel. There is an abundance of partially dried grease that we think is factory grease as there is very little evidence of it having been fired. In fact; at first we thought it might be un-fired but found slight evidence of it having been fired when we examined the bore with a Hawkeye bore scope. A really beautiful example of this great American arm that is just about as close to new as you can get without actually being so. A stand-out gem for the advanced collection.
