Japanese Type 99 Arisaka 7.7 Rifle Matching No Imp

This Japanese Type 99 rifle is from Kokura Arsenal and is number 97471 of the 22nd series according to the markings on the receiver. It is in the configuration it left the arsenal in according to Honeycutt & Anthony in their definitive MILITARY RIFLES OF JAPAN (pp 106 & 107, 4th Ed.) though the mum has been ground and a small screw has been added to the left rear of the handguard sometime in the distant past, serial numbers match on receiver, bolt, safety and firing pin (extractor is not numbered) and there are no import marks. The metal is about 50/50 original blue and tiny rust spotting while the bore appears to be chrome plated and is in perfect condition (we used a Hawkeye bore scope and found it very hard to find any evidence of it having been fired), bright, smooth and shiny with strong, sharp rifling. The stock is completely sound with scattered marks and gouges typical of the genre. It is complete with original anti-aircraft sights and repro dust cover, mono pod and sling. A very nice representative piece with the very best bore we’ve ever seen in one of these rifles, truly outstanding.
