Parker Bros Hammer Damascus 12 Ga Shotgun C1883

This fine Parker hammer gun was made in 1883 (SN 34440) and is a number 2 frame size, grade 2, with 28” Damascus barrels with 2-9/16” chambers, fixed chokes that gauge Cyl & IC with blade gauge and IC & Mod with plug gauge, case colored frame and side plates, rebounding hammers and finey checkered walnut stocks with steel thistle forend tip, checkered hard rubber grip cap and dog’s head logo hard rubber butt plate. The frame is finely engraved with scroll and birds (including a woodcock on the bottom) and geometric bordering. Drops are 2-5/8” & 1-7/8” and pull is 14-1/4” & 13-3/8”. All serial numbers match. About 83% of Damascus figure is evident with generalized fading, the barrels don’t appear to have been cut and ring like a bell, the retains about 10% case color while the side plates and trigger plate retain a solid 90% case color. The right bore is about 70% smooth with the balance being scattered light to moderate pitting that thins out toward the muzzle and the left bore is about 80% smooth 20% scattered pitting. The stocks don’t seem to have been refinished and are completely sound with scattered light to moderate handling marks and the butt plate has only a small, shallow chip at the toe. The action works perfectly and lock-up is 100% on-face and tight as a bank vault (tested with the forend removed) and the top lever comes to rest to the right of center.
