Golden State Arms 1943 Std Jungle Carbine 303 Brit

OK First thing we want to say it this is not a 1943 303 British Jungle Carbine. It is what The Santa Fe Division of Golden State Arms cobbled together from a mix of surplus British Enfield items repurposing them into the configuration of the famed No. 5 Mk1 “jungle” carbine that the British fielded in WWII. They called it the 1943 Standard as evidenced by the markings on the barrel (see photo). It features a 19” barrel with a No.5 Mk1 flash hider attached, rear sight as shown, and a No.5 Mk1 butt plate fitted to a repurposed butt from an Enfield that had a rear swivel (see photo). Now it might have started life as a No.5 Mk1 but we’ll never know because Golden State ground off the receiver markings before bluing but what we do know is that the bolt and receiver share the same serial number and they’re not force matched. The magazine seems to be unissued surplus. It retains about 98% blue while the bore is perfectly bright, smooth and shiny with strong, sharp rifling and the stocks are sound with only a handful of handling marks. While many looked down their noses at these rifles the fact of the matter is they are excellent and very scarce items. Collecting is a funny thing; items that were once scoffed at become rare collectables in the future – happens all the time.
