Japanese Type 99 Arisaka Last Ditch 7.7 Rifle

This “last ditch” all matching Type 99 Arisaka rifle seems to have been made at Toyo Kogyo in Hiroshima Prefecture late in the war as it features a 25-1/2” barrel, fixed rear sight, welded front band, no provision for cleaning rod, rough welded safety, no provision for monopod, single screw rear swivel and wood butt plate. The bolt and all bolt parts have serials that match the receiver. The mum has been ground. It retains about 80% metal finish with generalized thinning while the bore has evenly scattered light to moderate pitting with good strong rifling and the stock is completely sound with the kind of handling marks typical for an arm such as this. It was a vet bring-back that has remained in the same collection for about 70 years and is a very good example of a late war “last ditch” rifle. If you have questions please email us at This will be listed for auction on Gun Broker the evening of March 4th.
