Smith & Wesson Safety Hammerless Lemon Squeezer 32

Made from 1887 to 1940 based on the Smith & Wesson Model 2 double-action design, the new revolver incorporated an internal hammer and an external back-strap grip safety. Chambered in .32 S&W and possessed of fast reloading and excellent concealed carry with no hammer to snag on drawing from a pocket. They were known as "The New Departure" revolvers. This example is a 3rd model made between 1909 and 1937 (SN 214717) and is in really top-flight condition. It features a 3Ē barrel and five shot cylinder, nickel plate and beautifully contrasting deep Smith blue on the guard bow and contoured latch with finely checkered grasping orbs and the trigger is beautifully case colored. It retains a strong 98% finish with thinly scattered light scratches and handling marks with most of the loss on the cylinder with slight scuffing and the spiral scratches indicative of improper assembly or disassembly (ya gotta hold the latch up). It has been fired very little as what we believe is factory grease remains in quantity and there is very little evidence of having been fired. The bore is perfect; mirror smooth and bright with strong, sharp rifling and the recoil plate is smooth and clean and the grips are completely sound with no flatted points. All serials match and both frame and cylinder lock-up are tight as a tick. Itís not that common to find these fine pistols in this high condition. They were usually rode hard and put up wet during distressful times - but this old fella managed to find a gentler path than most. Itís also a fine example of the level of quality that could be reached with mass produced products in America that allowed greater access to dependable, high quality, advanced technology goods. Itís quality canít be approached using todays manufacturing philosophy as divined by academia and executed by Human Resources Ė a flash from the past you can hold in your hands.
