Savage 99F 308 Win Featherweight Made 57-61 99 F Excellent Condition With Hang Envelope + Papers

This 99F Featherweight was made sometime between 1957 and 1961 in that 308 Win was introduced in ’57 and the safety moved to the tang (eliminating the ability to slip the sear) was done in ‘61. This rifle has a drilled and tapped receiver and tang and the machined safety is on the side putting its manufacture date sometime between ’57 and ‘61. It features a 22” lightweight barrel in the great 308 Win chambering, sights are a ramped bead in front and semi buckhorn rear with elevator, drilled and tapped for both scope and tang sights, brass spindle, steel cocking indicator, bolt is jeweled (Damascened), checkered walnut stocks with grip cap and serrated (machined) steel butt plate. It retains about 99% original blue with most of the loss being edge thinning on the butt plate and there’s a short thin scratch on the barrel while the lever retains about 92% case color. The bore is a perfect mirror with strong, sharp rifling. The stocks are sound with very thinly scattered light to moderate handling marks. An excellent condition rifle chambered in one of the most desirable cartridges and made at what many people feel was the highpoint of design and quality during the long production life of the great 99.
