Lyman Great Plains Percussion 54 Cal Rifle New

When Lyman commissioned the prestigious Italian gun maker Investarms to make a Hawken style Great Plains rifle they demanded it be true to form but that it also be up to date. The correctly configured lock plate conceals a modern coil spring lock and the double set triggers are double levers with only the finest steels used along with nicely figured European walnut. It features double set triggers, 32 octagon barrel with 1:60 twist, adjustable buckhorn rear sight with red insert front sight, deeply blued steel and bright keys and keyways. Even the toe line tang is present on the crescent butt plate. The date code shows it to have been made in 1979 and somehow it has avoided being fired in the intervening 39 years! It retains 100% blue, the bore is new and the stock has only a handful of light handling marks. A real find for the traditionalist who appreciates excellent quality and design.
