Winchester Model 63 Semi Auto 22 LR Rifle Engraved 575

This Winchester model 63 was made in 1936 (SN 15595) which was the third year of its 25 year production life which ended in 1958 with 174,692 having been made. It features a 23Ē barrel with correct markings {West; WINCHESTER FOR OVER A CENTURY} with correct 32B rear sight with 2C elevator and 3W gold bead front sight, cross bolt safety, take-down, upper tang tapped for tang sight (with filler screws in place), 10 shot tube magazine, Walnut stocks and steel butt plate. It has been beautifully engraved with classic Winchester squirrel and rabbit motifs used on many of their rim fire offerings - it can be seen on page 526 in THE WINCHESTER BOOK by Madis. The engraverís monogram is just to the right of the serial number and is a superimposed CL or LC depending on how you look at. Its really-top flight engraving as is the high polish blue both of which were done by superb professionals. Lettering is not washed or weakened and thereís even still raised material around the barrel proof mark (almost always obliterated during even the best re-blues). It retains about 95% blue with all the loss accounted for by slight thinning on the butt plate and guard bow. The bore is a perfect mirror with strong, sharp rifling and the stocks are completely sound with scattered light handling marks and about 90% of a light refinish remaining (the wood is still proud to the metal). A really striking model 63 that the photos donít do justice to (itís difficult to photograph high polish surfaces).
