Harrington & Richardson M12 US Marked 22 Rifle New, Un-Fired

The US military commissioned H&R to make a 22 LR caliber single shot target rifle to the same spec’s as the legendary Model 52 Winchester which Winchester could no longer produce due to the poisonous influence on quality that the academia minted MBA’s running Winchester had inculcated there. Another nail in the coffin of Winchester but a windfall for H&R who’s quality culture had not yet been killed by academia’s ninja accountants, though they would kill the company a few years later. The rifle features a 28” heavy barrel, high polish blue, barrel drilled and tapped for multiple sight options, Unertl standard ½” (0.482”) scope/sight bases are mounted, cock on closing bolt, walnut stained birch target stock, adjustable trigger, thumb safety, accessory rail and rubber butt plate. We don’t know the history of this rifle and assumed it was used, however: when we looked for signs of it having been fired (carbon in receiver and bolt recesses) we found only grease and when we inspected the bore with a Hawkeye bore scope we found a new, unfired bore. The bolt shows some action scuffing but there’s no evidence of it having been fired. It retains about 99% blue with a scratch on top of the barrel just in front of the middle scope base and a little edge thinning on the top edge of the receiver port while the bore is pristine and the stock is completely sound with light to moderate handling marks with a few more pronounced ones here and there (it’s said that at CMP they shoved these rifles into shopping carts to move them around). A rare chance to obtain a rifle that shoots every bit as well as the Winchester 52, Remington 40X and other top end target 22’s.
