1896 Swedish Mauser Rifle Carl Gustaf 6.5X55mm

The Swedish military endeavored to give its troops an accuracy advantage over their potential opponents and specified their rifles accordingly. The 6.5X55mm Swedish Mauser cartridge is internationally known for its superb accuracy and the very well designed and manufactured 1896 rifle was able to make the most of it. One of the reasons Hitler declined to invade Sweden was that he knew the Swedes exceptionally accurate rifle fire would make him pay too dearly. It has a 29 barrel, the tangent rear sight has been replaced by a Williams aperture sight, excellent trigger pull, steel heeled butt plate and hardwood stock. Its dated 1914, retains a 50% blue with generalized thinning to silver-gray, the bolt is uniformly bright. Serial numbers of all bolt parts match each other but not the receiver while the butt plate number matches that of the receive (the rest are a mix). The bore has an even frosting of micro pitting and good, strong rifling. The stock is completely sound with an average amount of light to moderate handling marks. There are import marks on the right side of the barrel. A great rifle that can provide some surprising results as-is and offers terrific potential for customization (these actions are one of the most sought after military actions for use in custom rifles).
