Remington Rand 1911A1 45 ACP Made 1943 98% Finish Completely Correct Still Cosmolene Almost Like New

This Remington Rand 1911A1 tells its story plainly. It was bought as unused surplus, still in the cosmolene, wiped off externally, fired a little (maybe 50 rounds - tops) and then put away. It sat for an unknown decades until this writer took it from the holster in which it had been stored. All parts are correctly configured and marked according to Harrison in his definitive U.S. PISTOLS & REVOLVERS1909-1945 right down to the magazine with the correct ďRĒ on the toe (Risdon). The inside surfaces were covered in cosmolene that had been fouled with powder residue that, once removed, revealed that the metal beneath had been amply protected and was nearly pristine. Externally it retains 99% finish (no evidence of refinish) with the heat treat area around the slide stop notch faintly visible and the wear surfaces inside indicate very little use. I found the bore had not been cleaned after its maiden use and is partially lightly frosted in some of the grooves with about 80% of the surface being bright and shiny with strong, sharp rifling. When at battery thereís zero lateral or vertical play in slide/frame fit. The lower right grip screw escutcheon has lost its grip on the frame and spins in place and the rear sight has a small ding on the top left. A few flaws but overall, itís in incredible shape. I donít remember having seen a Remington Rand in this high condition and I know Iím not likely to ever again.
