Winchester Model 70 Featherweight 270 Rifle 1960

This Model 70 Featherweight 270 Win rifle was made in 1960 (SN 468498) which was four years before modern management practices killed the quality culture at Winchester and sealed the company’s fate (real smarties). It is in original factory configuration with correct markings on the 22” barrel, correct Lyman 16A folding rear sight, matte finished receiver, two position wing safety, aluminum bottom metal, checkered walnut Monte Carlo stock with sling swivels and composite butt plate. It retains a strong 95% original metal finish with most of the loss on the bolt knob and slight fading on the floor plate while the bore is a perfect mirror, smooth and shiny with strong, sharp rifling and the stock is completely sound with scattered light handling marks and about 92% original finish remaining. The bolt face has a small pit just outside the primer ring (a shadow) at 3 o’clock. A great example of the quality product that could be made before academia gave us the management principles that would eventually ruin American exceptionalism in business and industry.
