Winchester 16 Ga Model 24 Shotgun 28 IC/MOD 1946

The model 24 was designed to compete with the utility doubles offered by Savage, Stevens, H&R and others between 1940 and 1957. A basic boxlock; it is durable, reliable and handsome with the quality culture that permeated the company being evident in its fit and finish. This example was made in 1946 (SN 40108) and features a 28 barrel with 2-3/4 chambers, raised matted rib, IC and MOD chokes (fixed) and silver bead, automatic safety and walnut stocks with 1 round logo butt plate. It retains about 98% original blue with some very slight edge thinning and a few scattered tiny rust spots while the bores are perfect mirrors and the stocks are completely sound with some light to moderate handling marks and a professionally repaired crack at the right upper rear corner of the forend (really inconsequential). Lock-up is 100% on-face and tight as a tick (zero movement). A great shotgun from the high quality period at Winchester before modern management killed that culture and eventually the company itself.
