British Enfield No 4 Mk I Rifle 303 - Exceptional!

This is a really fine example of the best bolt action battle rifles of WWII. It bears markings that indicate Factory Through Repair having been done in 1948 at Royal Ordnance Factory Fazakerley where it was stripped down and subjected to a stringent visual, gauged and metallurgical examination against the original factory tolerances and new parts exchanged where necessary. Under the finish the original markings can be seen that show it was made at Royal Ordnance Factory Fazakerley in 1943. Almost certainly, this rifle saw action in the war. All serialized parts match (receiver, bolt, forestock) and are not force matched. The stocks are nearly pristine as is the bolt face. It retains about 95% finish while the bore is 90% bright and shiny with strong, sharp rifling and a few patches of moderate pitting in the grooves here and there and the stocks are completely sound with only a few handling marks (one of the best condition stocks we’ve ever seen). A really fine example of the bolt action battel rifle that was superior to all others in the Second World War.
