Ithaca 4E Single Barrel Trap 12 Gauge Shotgun 1931

This Ithaca 4E was made in 1931 (SN 402353T) and features a 32” vent rib barrel (0.692” bore at the muzzle) with ivory mid and front beads, case colored and engraved frame, very nicely figured walnut stocks with fine checkering, beavertail forend with ebony inlay, monogram plate on the toe line (engraved “ROB”) and Ithaca ventilated recoil pad. LOP is 14-1/2” DAC is 1-1/2” and DOH is 1-3/4”. It retains about 92% original blue with some scattered oxidation spotting and slight fading to gray patina mostly on the edges of the rib while the bore is a perfect mirror, the frame retains about 88% case color with slight silvering at the carry point and some tiny rust spots at the upper rear of the left side and the stocks are completely sound with scattered light to moderate handling marks. Lock-up is tight as a vault (tested with the forend removed) and 100% on-face while the lever comes to rest to the right of center. All serial numbers match. A very nice example of a vintage high quality American trap gun with drops that are more to the liking of current shooters than those of 1931.
