Afghan / North Indian Pulwar Pulouar 19th Century Sword

The iron hilt of this sword is a distinct form with dished pommel and monster head quillion finials. Engraved details include geometric and floral patterns. The 28 1/2" curved blade has fullers and engraving which includes what we think might be the maker’s mark. The blade is 1-11/16 deep at the hilt and 13/64” thick. The blade engraving is filled with red pigment of some sort. Overall length is 33-3/4”. It is blended brown and gray patina with a few ancient rust spots here and there. About 35% of the blade engraving retains the red pigment. The edge has been hacked quite a lot and a 4X magnifier reveals the same strength of patina within the nicks indicating that it happened in antiquity. All components are tight and sound. This would be a great addition to any advanced collection. If you have questions please email us at tangoyankee_llc@yahoo.com This will be listed on Gun Broker the evening of August 21st.
