Winchester Model 1897 Pump 12 Ga Shotgun 30 1909

A 60 year production life with over 1,024,700 copies made attests to the popularity of this fine creation of John Moses Browning and was the first Winchester shotgun chambered for 2-3/4 smokeless ammunition. This example was made in 1909 (SN 399741) and features a 30 barrel with full choke (fixed), 2-3/4 chamber, round grooved forend, take-down and nicely figured walnut stocks. It retains some original blue on the barrel but has mostly faded to gray and brown patina while the bore is 85% mirror smooth and shiny with scattered very light pitting (really inconsequential) and a slight bulge about 3 from the muzzle which is very hard to see and is mostly on the bottom half. The stocks are sound and have been nicely refinish which tastefully shows off the extraordinary grain figure. The action seems to work perfectly. At the risk of blaspheming; were the barrel bobbed this would make a really great cowboy action gun. In any case: A great old fella that still has a lot of life left in him.
