Dutch East Indies Mannlicher M1895 KNIL Rifle Stock

The Royal Netherlands East Indies Army (Koninklijk Nederlands Indisch Leger) used native conscripts to help oversee the Dutch East Indies. Their equipment was largely the same as the continental army’s, but with some small differences in stocks and bayonets. The Mannlicher M1895 KNIL rifle is very rare because most were lost in war or were converted to a .303 short rifle later in life. The differences from continental rifles are small and the easiest one to see is the unusual "L" shaped finger grooves in the stock. We have here a new, unused stock which may well be the only one in the world. It’s hard enough to find a rifle much less a new replacement stock. The stock is new, never even having had the butt plate or sling swivel attached while the recoil block and rear action screw hole sleeve are in place. There’s some scattered soiling and a few light handling marks and a very small chip at the toe. I have a feeling that a buyer for this stock might be scarcer than it is….
