Remington Nylon 66 Mohawk Brown 1st Year Not 10/22

The Nylon 66 was introduced in 1959 featuring a unique design utilizing a DuPont Zytel stock which also was the structure for supporting the metal mechanical parts. It was met with much scorn from many gun writers of the day as being an ill thought-out approach. Thirty one years later, Remington had the last laugh having sold over 1,050,000 of them. It proved to be a light, fast handling semi auto that was reliable, durable and accurate. It features a 19-5/8 barrel, fully adjustable sights, 14 shot tube feed magazine, thumb safety and grooved receiver top for scope mounting. This example was made in March of 1959 (barrel code AF) making it one of the very first ever produced. It retains 98% original blue, the bore is a perfect mirror with strong, sharp rifling and the stock is completely sound with scattered scratches, abrasions and dings. Excellent condition considering its nearly 60 years on this planet. A really nice example of what is now an icon in the firearms history of the world.
