Name This Rifle Scope Vintage Rifle Scope With External Adjustable Micrometer Target Mounts

We bought this recently at a large down-east sporting goods store where it was labeled as a Marlin scope. However, it isn’t – at least from what we could find out – it isn’t Marlin, Winchester, Savage or any of the brass construction ¾” bodied scopes of the era. It has some very unusual features such as: the large diameter portion of the scope is the ocular cell (eyepiece) not the objective cell! The silver knob and plate that sit atop the ocular cell can be slid back and forth to achieve focus. Forward of that is another knob held in place with a spring bracket and a tightening knob on top of that! There seems to be a gear on the bottom where it enters the body tube but we don’t know the function of this and didn’t want to force anything. The scope is 16” long and seems to be of copper or brass, has a black Japanned finish and the mounts are a flat black finish. The micrometer adjustments work fine, as does the focus, the lenses are free of chips and scratches and the optics are surprisingly clear and bright (though there is some scattered dust or something in the field) and the cross hairs are straight and tight. If you can identify this scope please email us at tangoyankee_llc@yahoo.com and let us know. 01-09-14--14-04-09
